2015 Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con Postmortem
Another year of Las Vegas cons has passed so naturally the 2015 Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con Postmortem must follow. Amazing Las Vegas had yet again, another great year bringing in some strong industry names, many like George Perez, , and Greg Capullo a second time. What’s funny is those were arguably not even the biggest names at this years Amazing Las Vegas, Kevin Eastman, Steve McNiven, John Romita Jr, Jae Lee, and one of my favorite writer’s Charles Soule all made an appearance over the weekend.
During the 2015 Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con I actually gathered the courage and took the time to interview Charles Soule, who humbly accepted my praises on She-Hulk and talked a bit about his current book Inhumans: Attilan Rising and his upcoming Star Wars book, Lando. I decided to pass on any autographs this year as I got most of my books signed at last years Amazing Las Vegas.
So instead of gathering autographs I went in search of lost treasures, as I always do, but this just gave me a little more hunting time as I didn’t have any autograph waiting lines to compete with. I did manage to find some goodies, a few good Marvel “What-If” books, Punisher War Journal #19 that has one of THE best covers in comics, a Marvel Legends Hellcat I’ve had my eyes on for quite some time, and a few loose G.I. Joes.
At first glance my actual comic book loot out of the 2015 Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con was quite light, technically it was, but it’s the other “stuff” that I’ve been buying from other vendors and artist alley that I’ve been getting a lot of enjoyment out of, mostly prints or cooler art projects. This time around I picked a bright and hauntingly gorgeous Bride of Frankenstein print from and a small batch of Hawkeyes from a woman whom I forgot to get a biz card from and now her and her booth escape my memory, shame because her prints were fantastic.
While I didn’t get everything I was looking for, a vintage Star Wars Yak face eluded me, among other books that I can’t afford or fiscally and responsibly purchase. The comic book collecting game is so funny, I search deep within myself to see if I really want the first appearance of She-Hulk, or the clash of Daredevil and Punisher, or any other significant book for that matter. I think slowly I’ll start to really find what I’m looking for, and as long as Amazing Comic Con keeps coming to Vegas, I’ll keep hunting.
