Things you could have seen at this years Classic Gaming Expo 2K12 at the Plaza Hotel in glamorous Las Vegas, besides the hordes of retro games for sale, ranged from panels with famous classic game designers, the Video Game History Museum, one of the two Fix it Felix Jr. arcade boxes on the planet, and tons of overly excited 50-60 year old dudes battling wits at who had the better childhood. Of course my 29 year old green ass didn’t know anything past Nintendo’s unstoppable beast, the 8-Bit Nintendo, but that didn’t stop me from looking like I knew what I was talking about.
The Classic Gaming Expo show floor. There were actually more people, this is very early on Saturday, near the long line (which you can’t see) for Fix it Felix Jr.
The Nintendo World Championships 1990 was playable at CGE, thanks to the guys at JJgames.com. The tournament was fun, but soured by an exploit in the Super Mario Bros. 3 section.
The Video Game History Museum was there in full effect filling my brain with tons of nostalgiac memories.
The PocketStation I have never met, but I’m in love with. Finally got to see one in person since I’ve never been to Japan. Only 60,000 of these bad boys were released.
And my favorite of the Video Game History Museum is the limited Marlboro Atari Lynx. You could only get this limited Lynx from points received from packs of Marlboro cigarettes. Here kids, here’s an Atari Lynx, play it while you smoke Marlboro’s like a winner.
These are only a few of the pictures we took at the expo, you can see the rest of them over at our . Expect a full “quest” review from in the coming days complete with a kick ass video, complete with interviews!!!
