Xbox 360 Games on the Xbox One on the Cheap.

Despite the title of Xbox 360 Games on the Xbox One on the Cheap, this is more of the best available backward compatible titles on the Xbox One that are under $10. I also tried to include some lesser played gems in this meager yet strong list of five titles. The entire list of just over 100 backwards compatible video games can be found on xbox.com, but sifting through the list can be tedious if you don’t exactly know what’s worth playing or you just happen to be lazy like myself.

It’s important to remember that you must actually own the games on the Xbox 360 or buy them from the marketplace before you can play them on the Xbox One. The best thing about the Xbox 360 Games on the Xbox One on the Cheap list is that they’re not only cheap, they’re actually good. Most of them on the list are as timeless as they’re memorable.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is a fantastic spaghetti western of the last generation, it would have been the best had it not been for Red Dead Redemption. But to be fair, I had Red Dead Redemption as the greatest game of last generation.

Sure I reviewed Call of Juarez: Gunslinger on PS4 but them shits are interchangeable. Besides being a fun and fast paced arcade shooter, it has a great story and plenty of ways to play with a creative leveling up system. It’s not exactly the cheapest of the bunch sitting at $15, but it’s essentially a AAA title for the price of an indie.

I promise from here on out the games are under $10 if you’re strapped for cash.

Monday Night Combat

Monday Night Combat was my first introduction into the semi multiplayer online battle arena or MOBA as the in kids like to call them. It’s also one of the games my wife has banned me from playing while she or anyone else is at the house. So I get a little aggressive, but that shit’s serious.

Monday Night Combat is a 6v6 class based third person shooter where you defend your robot minion waves as they attempt to take down the other teams Money Ball, all while building turrets and defending your own Money Ball. Its basic skill upgrades mixed with grapples and finishers makes for crazy intense combat. I’ve already had friends asking me to come back to the game, I’m just not sure my wife or my blood pressure are up for the challenge.

Tomb Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas

Arguably the best Rainbow Six of the series, Rainbow Six Vegas redefined and rejuvenated a series that had started to spit and sputter. It’s so good in fact that Ubisoft is hoping it will help sell the upcoming Rainbow Six Siege by including both Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2 with it. If you don’t feel like playing the mediocre Siege you can pick both for under $10.

Assassin’s Creed 2

Ok, so maybe this one is a stretch, but it’s one of my favorites of the Assassin’s Creed series met only by competition from Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. It’s also the one that’s aged the best.

Ezio is the strongest character of the series, making an appearance in over three of the series, so why not return to his humble beginnings. Return to what made the Assassin Creed titles so great before bloated fetch quests, and unneeded and unwanted multiplayer started infesting each game after it. Assassin’s Creed 2 is the purest of the pure and you can download it if you don’t already own it for a measly $7. There’s no losing in that deal.

Wolfenstein 3D

Of course this one would make the list. A game that I’ve been playing from it’s inception, Wolfenstein 3D get’s downloaded and installed on all of my systems that it can possibly be bought or downloaded on. From PC, to the SNES, PS3, and the Xbox 360, Wolfenstein 3D gets embraced by them all.

You can’t beat Wolfenstein 3D, I mean you can technically beat it, I guess that was a poor use of words, you can’t lose with Wolfenstein 3D. It’s a perfect blend of nazi killing and treasure hunting. It never gets old, that’s probably why it maintains its $10 price tag. A game that’s over 23 years old makes it’s way onto almost every console ever released and keeps its value. That’s love, and that love is translated pretty damn well in the newest Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein: The Bad Blood, two other titles that I also suggest highly.

So there you have it, five games that make having backward compatibility actually worth it. If you want more, Microsoft is having a continuous where games like Red Dead Redemption and Bioshock sit atop their tower waiting to be chosen.
