The Dork Knight’s The Hangover Part III Review

The Hangover Part III is being billed as “the epic finale to The Hangover trilogy” and I couldn’t disagree more. This trilogy ended, to quote TS Eliot, “not with a bang, but a whimper.” I loved the first Hangover movie and the second one was okay, but this movie reminded me of an old athlete trying to hold on to his glory days for too long. Actually no, that’s what The Hangover Part II remind me of. The Hangover Part III reminds me of a retired famous athlete who decides to come out of retirement only to tarnish his once gloried career. That’s a better metaphor for The Hangover Part III.

The movie was slow at many points; it felt forced and lazy (the guy next to me actually fell asleep a couple of times), there were several inside jokes that the poor bastard next to me didn’t get because he hadn’t seen the previous two movies, and it did not paint a flattering picture of Las Vegas. There’s actually a line in the movie where is Stu says he thought he’d never come back to this place again. Phil’s response to that is it all ends tonight and I’m thankful for one that it does because The Hangover Part III is about an hour and forty minutes of my life I’d rather have spent doing something else. It’s just been downhill ever since the first one and I’m just thankful that they’re not making any more of these movies. Do yourself a favor and watch Star Trek Into Darkness instead. You can watch this one on Netflix in a few months if you have absolutely nothing better to do.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Legendary Pictures, a Green Hat Films Production of a Todd Phillips Movie: “The Hangover Part III.” Opening, May 23, 2013 the film stars  Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, , Ken Jeong, Heather Graham, Jeffrey Tambor, Justin Bartha, Mike Epps, and John Goodman.
