Octodad: Dadliest Catch review
Octodad: Dadliest Catch doesn’t even need a review in my opinion. A game that’s a first of its kind. Physics mixed with humor mixed with marine life. Alarms going off in someones brain and that tingling down their neck when they know somethings special, that’s Octodad: Dadliest Catch.
My instant love with Octodad: Dadliest Catch started at PAX 2013 in the PlayStation booth. The curious title that created a low rumbling buzz among crowds of people, including myself. So of course my excitement could not be contained when the game popped up on the PlayStation Network for an affordable $15.
As the Octodad you live a life with your family perpetrating as a human being, attempting to blend in with the normal folk all while avoiding a chef who wants to serve you AS dinner. The physics based gameplay makes appearing to be human difficult since you don’t exactly look or walk anything like a human. In stumbles hilarity as you combine goofy objectives with suction cups for hands.
Explaining how you actually control Octodad would be tedious, just know controlling every limb is quite comedic as you never seem to have complete control. You literally control just enough to keep it interesting. Early in the game you have to walk across a mopped store floor covered in banana peels and learn what it’s like to almost pee yourself from laughter.
Octodad: Dadliest Catch is a must buy game, for anyone. The only people who shouldn’t buy Octodad are those who hate fun, and possibly themselves. The $15 price tag is more than a reasonable price for the enjoyment and replayability you’ll get out of it, and PS Plus members get it right now for $12, which is practically a steal. My face likes Octodad: Dadliest Catch, my wife like it, my kids love it, and it makes me wish I too could have had an octopus impostor as my dad. Our family would have been so much more interesting.
