Every Xbox 360 Game IS NOT Backward Compatible on the Xbox One
Microsoft had a pretty good E3 2015 run, their presser wasn’t about Kinect or how they plan to run TV, in fact there wasn’t mention of any of those. They dropped a few good haymakers, but arguably their submission to Xbox One backward compatibility was the biggest shocker. The whole situation wasn’t a shocker for me though, Microsoft has always traditionally backed down when pressured, and since they said no one wanted backward compatibility this newest gen, what they really meant was that it made them no money, and it probably wont. It’s just much needed fan service.
Though it is a promising step in the right direction, it is somewhat of a magicians smoke and mirrors tactic since every Xbox 360 game IS NOT backward compatible on the Xbox One. In fact, there’s only 21 that are ready, but Microsoft has an empty promise that over 100 will be available by this holiday season.
Here’s the current list of backward compatible Xbox 360 games:
- A Kingdom for Keflings
- A World of Keflings
- Alien Hominid HD
- Banjo-Kazooie
- Banjo-Tooie
- BattleBlock Theater
- Defense Grid
- Geometry Wars Evolved
- Hexic HD
- Jetpac Refuelled
- Kameo
- Mass Effect
- N+
- Perfect Dark
- Perfect Dark Zero
- Super Meat Boy
- Toy Soldiers
- Toy Soldiers: Cold War
- Viva Piñata
- Viva Piñata: TIP
- Zuma
Oh thank god they put Viva Pinata in there or this whole backward compatibility service would be utter bull shit.
The Xbox One backward compatibility in lamens terms will work by downloading the game to your Xbox One and then putting the disc in to verify that you actually own the game. Obviously if you previously downloaded the game from the Xbox Marketplace they already know you own it and you will be able to play it instantly. You can read more on how the Xbox One backward compatible system will work here.
Now I can’t be completely cynical about this brighter future of past gaming, Microsoft understands that maybe everyone doesn’t want to ever play Jetpac Refuelled again (I’ve honestly never even heard of that game so maybe I shouldn’t be using it in such a snarky and sarcastic matter) so they’ve gone to the fans to pick what Xbox 360 games they want backward compatible. Red Dead Redemption is currently leading the list of games, as it should be since I already posted that it’s the greatest game of last generation, and you can request games too using this link to .
