With more than 700 submissions since it’s birth less than a week ago, Valve’s new Steam Greenlight is already getting it’s dose of trolls. Even with all of the serious developers submitting, the amount of Half-Life 3 unfunny jokes are beginning to muck up the filters. So Valve decided to take action, knowing the best way to take care of anonymous trolls is to of course, add a price of admission.
Announced today Valve will be charging $100 for submissions, donating all of it to Childs Play. I for one am completely for this since any developer capable of making a stellar game worth selling on Steam, should have the connections to scrounge up a Benjamin. It’s sad that lots of developers probably have already been lost in the shuffle between real and fake submissions.
Although the fee still stands even if your game never comes to fruition, just know you made a sizable contribution to a notable charity. You’re such a swell person.
