This last week the demo for Transfromers: Fall of Cybertron dropped on PS3 and XBox and, as a Transformers fan for life, I have to recommend it to you guys! Although many changes were made, I assure you most are improvements from the original War for Cybertron.
In this newest iteration, you are going to meet all kinds of familiar faces (if you were a Generation 1 Transformers geek) and the characters you have grown to love all look better than ever. This definitely isn’t Academy Award Watching Director, Michael Bay’s Transformers. Which sucked. Regardless what you say, you’re wrong. Plus this game has DINOBOTS in it!
The demo lets you play as Bumblebee and Vortex in the Autobot and Decepticon campaigns respectively. The game has taken on a much more cinematic feel this time around and you will experience a lot more cut scenes but they are totally unobtrusive to the entire experience. And none of it feels forced or needless. Although I hope that you are given the freedom of the last game to choose which Transformer you would like to take into each level, I think it would also be interesting to have a singular perspective per level if you don’t have that much freedom.
I will say, I don’t really understand why some of the characters have changed visually, albeit minor changes, but this game takes place immediately after the first one. So I have to ask “Why does Optimus have a different body shape?” I doubt he managed any upgrades between defeating Trypticon and boarding the Arc before Megatron attacks it.
The multiplayer has been upgraded, and many of the characters feel a lot stronger, and you aren’t one shotted by melee anymore, which is nice. They also threw in A TON of customization for the player characters. You can choose which head, shoulders, chest, legs, voice and color options. And you are even allowed to edit your weapons with upgrades that tweak how the weapon performs.
Personally, I think Full Moon hit another home run but maybe I’m a little biased….but that could just by my Decepticon tattoo talking at this point.
