Activision announced today that thy’re jumping in the ring with The Walking Dead cash cow by making an FPS version. The game is said to take place before the events of the Walking Dead television series and include everyone’s two favorite redneck brothers, Daryl and Merle Dixon. The game will attempt to include stealth aspects, ammo preservation, and diverse interactions with other survivors (anyone remember the abomination that is Dead Island). Terminal Reality (Kinect Star Wars, Ghostbuster) is set to develop the game with almost little FPS development experience. Unfortunately if history has anything to say, this game is going to fail and Terminal Reality will be closed by Activision because of it.
I honestly can’t see this game being any good since The Walking Dead was never about killing zombies, it’s about surviving. Telltale Games has made a successful adaptation of the Walking Dead fiction, if I want a FPS zombie shooter, I’ll play Left 4 Dead. If you’re looking forward to it, you’ll be waiting until 2013 on all major platforms.
