As most of the world matures, so do comic books. Tomorrow, Marvel is going to have their first gay marriage proposal. In this Wednesday’s (5-23-2012) issue of Astonishing X-Men #50, Northstar, of X-Men and Alpha Flight, will propose to his long time partner Kyle. Soon to follow, and I mean very soon, like the very next issue of Astonishing X-Men soon, they’ll tie the knot and soon be miserable like the rest of us. Of course I kid, I kid. But seriously though, they planned a wedding in one month, that’s 4 weeks. If anyone has ever planned a wedding, that shit aint easy, or cheap. Who knows, some special mutant maybe has like super wedding planning powers, he just sits in the shadows waiting until it’s time for a wedding and BOOM! out like a ninja with an adorable accent and connections like a Cuban drug lord.
We’re so glad that Marvel, who’s owned by Disney btdubs, and MaximuM Comics have allowed us to be a part of this historic event. This is not only huge for the equal rights of every human being, but it’s a gigantic leap for main stream comic books and media.
A reception will be held at both MaximuM Comics locations in Las Vegas and Henderson. There will be cake, of course, with collectibles and prizes for everyone that attends with all donations and proceeds going to the Aid for AIDS Nevada charity.
