Taking Back Earth, Rebellion Style.

The Mass Effect 3 team is at it again, with the Rebellion DLC Pack. First I would like to take a minute and just sort of put my own spin on things, then I will go over what all is included with the pack.

Alright, it’s no surprise that I like the Mass Effect as a series. I am even in the small number of people who didn’t think the original ME3 endings were THAT  bad. However, with all the out cry about the endings and Bioware’s promise of releasing actual single player content, I find it disappointing that we are getting another multiplayer DLC. Three more characters added to the roster, I was excited when I heard this, but after I found out this was a multiplayer pack, I decided maybe the ME3 disc can stay in its case a little bit longer.

For all intents and purposes, Mass Effect 3 online play is just Bioware’s version of Horde Mode. A set amount of enemies over multiple waves on 3 difficulty settings….it got old and stale real fast, and I fear Bioware is really just driving nails into the coffin at this point. Unless they blow us out of the water with the single player DLC, this might seal their fate and EA has no qualms about taking a game studio out back by the shed and putting a bullet in the back of their head. RIP Bullfrog.

On to the DLC though:

3 Characters:

  • Vorcha Sentinel
  • Male Quarian Engineer/Infiltrator
  • Ex-Cerberus Vanguard/Adept

The Vorcha comes with a flamer ability, the Quarians come with a brand new Arc grenade and Tactical Scan respectively and your Ex-Cerberus employees are basically the same as the AI controlled counterparts except the Vanguard comes with a lightning whip:

Not an Iron Man goon.

You get 2 new maps:

  • Firebase Goddess: An Asari facility much like the one where you first encountered the Banshees
  • Firebase Jade: A set of ruins belonging to the Salarians

There are 3 new weapons included:

  • Krysae Sniper Rifle: A Turian built sniper
  • Cerberus Harrier Assault Rifle: Cerberus technicians modified the Mattock to increase its killing power
  • Reegar Carbine Shotgun: A shotgun that fires lightning? Sign me up!

But the most important part of this DLC is the new MP Objective: Retrieval. An object will spawn on the map and your fireteam will have to locate it, and escort it back to the drop point before you are over run with enemies. I think this is the crown jewel in this DLC pack.

So hop online, grab the DLC if you are still up for some ME3 MP action because it dropped today! You can’t lose, this one’s on the house!
