According to the Official Portal 2 Blog, an anonymous NASA tech has laser-engraved Wheatley and the much beloved “In spaaaaaaace!” quote on a panel that will in-fact be launched into space. The panel will be on the Japanese HTV-3 resupply craft to the International Space Station and is set to launch this upcoming Friday.
Valve also wanted to emphasize the whole “anonymous NASA tech” thing stating, “And please note that when we mentioned an “anonymous tech at NASA” we weren’t kidding: NASA in no way officially endorses secretly laser-engraving characters from Portal onto their spacecraft. Believe it or not, they don’t even officially endorse Portal 2, despite the fact that it’s a really excellent game.”
Let’s not bring up that Wheatley doesn’t actually say that quote, it’s from one of the other Space Cores, but if the Official Portal 2 Blog says it’s Wheatley, we’re saying it’s Wheatley. Science is cool, thank you anonymous tech at NASA.
