Expendables 2: The Game: The Review

I loved the first movie; The game? Meh…

I finally got around to sitting down and playing Expendables 2: The Game, and for what it’s worth, the game itself isn’t terrible. While I think it will rely HEAVILY on its name alone to carry it, Expendables 2 is at least worth a demo run.

The game starts you out with the option to play as one of four characters: Dolph Lundgren, Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li and Terry Crews (so you guys know who I’m talking about). My first thought was “Where is Jason Statham?” I mean, he pretty much was the second lead in the first movie… but I digress. Upon selecting your character, you then choose your weapons, and quickly tossed into the game. The game takes place in a small village where almost everything is destructible and plays basically the same as games like “Zombie Apocalypse: Never Die Alone” and other top down action games, but they went with more of a FPS control scheme. I think this kind of makes things a bit tedious in that generally, with these games, I would prefer to just point the right thumb stick towards enemies and have my guy fire his weapon, vs pulling the trigger which I find infinitely less intuitive.

But like I said, these don’t really make it a bad game in anyway, just maybe less appealing to fans of the movie or genre. So give it a whirl! It’s available for $15 on PSN right now!

PS: I’m completely sold if I get Arnold as a playable character!
