Codemasters has kept the development status of Grid 2 on lock down pretty well. Earlier this month they hinted to it’s possible existence, and at the stroke of midnight this morning, Codemasters twitter account blew up with Grid 2 announcements and previews. Arguably one of the greatest racers of all time, Grid brought a great mix of arcade and realistic racing simulation, and it also brought the highly innovative “Flashback” option to fix little mishaps you may have encountered on the track. Not much is known at this point, but the announcement trailer below will send shivers down your spine and goosebumps throughout your whole body. The race returns in 2013, le sigh.
The world of Formula 1 has changed drastically since F1 2010, and F1 2011 while being an extremely strong game, didn’t live up to Codemasters expectations. In F1 2012 expect to see new racing modes, most notably the Champions Mode that puts you head to head with some of the sports most talented drivers in stressful scenarios, with KERS and DRS also returning to an already technical and extremely competitive co-op/multiplayer.
F1 2012 will be available Sept 18th of next month, and we’ll have to wait until 2013 to see Grid 2. Just like the cable guy…
