E3 is always the biggest week in gaming, there’s so much information to gather from press conferences, demos, next gen engines, and handhelds that anyone can grab momentum and propel them into a successful launch months even years after a reveal. These are a few of our favorites from E3 2012.
Best of Show- Watch Dogs from Ubisoft. Watch Dogs came out of nowhere and showed us a brilliant new concept with great graphics. I have some questions about gameplay even after the demo, but it’s safe to assume we wont be seeing this title until late 2013 so I’m sure we’ll get to see more of this dark cyber warfare in the near future.
Most Anticipated- I think we all know I’m a Metal Gear Solid nut and news of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance going into E3 was slim. A very early scrapped concept since the 2011 VGA’s and strange, to say the least, teasers weren’t a good indication where this title was going since Platinum Games grabbed hold of the reins. Hideo Kojima does not disappoint as Rayden chops up an effin helicopter!
Out of Left Field- South Park: The Stick of Truth. South Park had been delayed, THQ going through it’s money woes, then even a rumor about a possible cancellation of the newest South Park RPG left me thinking we wouldn’t be seeing anything about this game anytime soon. Well, Microsoft’s press conference proved me wrong with Trey Parker and Matt Stone coming out and delivering a perfect description of the title and leaving a wonderfully funny trailer for us to drool over until March of 2013.
Of course there were plenty of other great moments at E3, but there’s only so much people are willing to read on one blog post. The Last of Us of course looked and played beautifully, Beyond: Two Souls was just breathtaking, Skylanders: Giants is threatening to take a lot more of your hard earned cash, Resident Evil 6 and Dead Space 3 introduced us to survival horror co-op, Borderlands 2 gave away exclusive gun unlocks, Assassin’s Creed III monkeyed around in the trees, and The Last Guardian was sadly absent…again.
