Five months after Mass Effect 3 dropped and the whole “Endings are crap!” drama just barely behind us, Bioware has announced that they will be releasing the first (probably of many) paid single player addition to ME3, Leviathan. The tag line states “Something lurks in the dark corners of space, something powerful enough to kill a Reaper.” Players will be able to discover more about the lore behind the Reapers as they speed like mad in an attempt to find the aforementioned Leviathan. Also, according to BioWare’s cryptic writing, Leviathan is not a mere weapon but a living being, but speculation suggests that there won’t be a change to the end game and the titular character will ultimately just become a war asset, which would be slightly disappointing.
In total, the DLC will unlock the “AT-12 Raider” shotgun and the “M-55 Argus” assault rifle, a few new characters, and some new zones across the galaxy as well as unexplored portions of the Citadel. Though there isn’t an exact date, we are being told simply “this summer”.
I tell you what would be really cool though: If the DLC each came with a new ending based more on the actions underwent in each set of content, than the arbitrary “War Assets” table, as I found it was incredibly easy to reach the necessary 4.5k minimum for the “good” endings, relatively speaking of course. Who knows though? I mean this actually could be really fun DLC and it will be put out for $10 USD on PS3 and PC, and Xbox will get it for 800 MS.
And along with the Leviathan announcement, next week on August 7th, players can download the Firefight Weapons Pack which is a single player weapon add-on that will feature 7 new weapons for use in the fight against the Reapers! Available on all 3 platforms for $2 aka 160 MS
