Recently (at PAX), I was informed that there would be a digital free-to-play Transformers Card game. Well I realize I have sat on my duff this whole time and not let you guys in on the whole shabangabang, but trust me, I was gathering intel for you! And guess what?! The nice people over at Mobage were kind enough to allow me to tap the inner workings of the new game: Transformers Legends.
Legends (for short) will be a digital collectable card game available on iOS and Android devices set for release in September, tentatively. The game features two objectives depending on which side you choose. Should you team up with the heroic Autobots, you will be defending the Earth and all its resources. But should you decide evil is your true calling, the Decepticons will have you mining Earth dry in no time!
Over the course of play, you will unlock new Transformers every day when activating the Space Bridge (ala Gen. 1) and are given the option to pair 1 of each type of card with another. There are two types of cards in the game: Transformer and Weapon cards which are used in combinations to power up the pre-existing Transformer. After you have done some routine deck building, you will be able to take part in 3 on 3 battles with your friends as well as use the Fusion mode to spend resources and materials building your deck into stronger cards! Also as the game progresses, you will unlock special missions and be hosted to various world events that will happen regularly and unlock Transformers that are only available during the event!
So stay tuned, because if you want to be a legend, you’re going to need to have your Transformers on lock!
