When Axe Cop began back in good’ol 2009 the brilliant mind of Malachai Nicolle was only 5, now years later his mind has matured and has brought us the latest adventures of Axe Cop, President of the World. Expect to have your mind blown.
Axe Cop #1 is pure madness, it’s written by an 8 year old and drawn by his much older brother, what did you expect? If you expected Axeville, WA to become the capital of the world, mind-control goo, alien abductions, 1,000,000 years of peace from God’s own mouth, axe goggles, and a talking gorilla with robotic gun fists and a tail that shoots created objects like airplanes, than you would be pretty much spot on. Look, I’m not even going to try and explain the plot to you, just know that it’s unforgiving hilarious mayhem.
I love books like Axe Cop, I think it’s the same reason’s I like Geek & Sundry’s “Written by a Kid” episodes so much too. It’s random comedy in it’s purest form, without trying too hard, and almost coming across effortlessly. Kids say what they think is awesome (which it rightfully is), and it’s put on paper to form this epic clump of everything righteous. Malachai Nicolle and Ethan Nicolle are obviously blood because their work together always looks like it was meant to be. Any other art style for Axe Cop just wouldn’t look right.
Axe Cop #1 had me smiling from ear to ear and occasionally even open mouth laughing like old Saint Nick. I can’t even begin to describe my favorite parts, there are just too many. Although seeing a Chester Cheetah lookalike with dinosaur claws flying a space hog and attacking Seattle in the end was pretty epic…oops, spoilers!
