American History: Lincoln

abe lincoln, honest abe, nerd farm,, vampire hunter

Amazingly enough, Abraham Lincoln:Vampire Hunter was probably one of the best adventure/action flicks you will see this year. I decided to go for the whole 3D thing, and was even more surprised that the director didn’t go for the whole “things flying out at you needlessly” option that you see in a lot of 3D flicks.

I won’t spoil any of the plot for you suffice to say that the movie is about Abraham Lincoln and killing vampires (I know, hard to believe right?) and a sparse sprinkling of actual history thrown in. I’m putting my money on the fact that 75% of American History teachers are dreading next school year though. The story was quite well done, and you never really feel, outside the whole vampire thing, that any of it’s too over the top. B+

However, you can’t say the same for the action in this movie. The violence and fight scenes are completely insane. In a good way! From the stylized vampire blood splatters being twirled about a room, to a fight involving a young Lincoln running across the backs of wild horses in a stampede, this film does its best to keep you riveted with its visuals. A+

I didn’t really see any downsides or faults with this movie probably in large part being that it’s already fictional American history, so leave your disbelief at the door, the action was amazing and the plot was outstanding for an action film.

If you see one movie this summer, you should probably make it Abraham Lincoln: Vampire hunter!
