I lucked out this weekend, and got to play some HAWKEN in the beta event that went down. We are now about 42 days away from launch and things are looking good! However, that being said, I don’t know what is and isn’t going to change from the current build, so I’ll just go over some of the cool things that hopefully will still exist at launch!
I think just about every game worth its salt these days has them, and HAWKEN is no different. I didn’t really get to delve too deep when I played at PAX so it was refreshing to see something brand new when I logged in. In the customization screen, I was allowed to purchase upgrades for my mechs as well as place spec points which increased power for my over all build in trees that basically augmented speed or firepower.
- Tons of Servers
There were probably somewhere between 500-1000 servers online, all of which had 12 slots. Hopefully this will change at launch for increased player count per server, but 6 vs 6 isn’t a bad match up and the maps are built well enough that you always have a way to get away from the opposing team. However if you are playing free for all, crossfire will kill you every time!
Now I did read that there were some connection issues for players, but I didn’t seem to have too much trouble connecting to any server that was about 1/2 to 3/4 full. The HAWKEN team seems to have been working overtime to make sure they were fixing issues during the beta weekend event to ensure all players could connect at some point. Another bonus is the download file is only a couple gigs so expect to be up and running almost as soon as you click download on launch day!
Stay tuned for more HAWKEN news!
