The much awaited “Death of the Family” story arc among the Batman titles has finally arrived with Batman #13 and the prelude in Batgirl #13. Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo give new life to the returning Joker and are prepared to take as many lives as they need to.
To avoid any spoilers, the synopsis for Batman #13 is simple, the Joker is back, he has his face, and no one is safe. No one. The Joker has been preparing for these first few moves for over a year, and not even Batman knows or understands his next move.
I don’t read many Batman titles, and I’ve just recently started reading J. H. Williams III‘s haunting Batwoman series, but I wasn’t going to miss out on this hyped up series, even though it unfortunately wont mingle in the Batwoman series. Luckily, the book lives up to the hype. Scott Snyder’s story left this knot in my stomach, the Joker is already unpredictable as it is, but now he’s changed, and I don’t know how to explain it. He’s just…worse.
Plus the creepy covers by Capullo are just par for the course in what will be an intense and dramatic series.
